I haven't been keeping the few of you who listen to my music up to date on my metal operetta... Anyway, terrible news: The singer involuntarily backed out!
The guy who was going to sing for the operetta, along with his family of five people, recently moved to Tennessee because they couldn't handle paying the ridiculous cost of living in New York City. Since he comes from a low or lower-middle class family, he has no access to any recording stuff of any kind, which is why I needed him around and I own some better-than-decent recording equipment. Plus, because he had no prior vocal training, I had to coach him on his singing, delivery, and articulation but despite his lack of training, he has a Pavarotti thing going on in his singing and I think an extra push could lead him into a promising career singing opera. And he has perfect pitch, despite not knowing what the notes are called.
Anyway, despite the loss, the project is not kaput and I'm still moving forward. since I'm taking voice lessons in college next semester, I'll probably meet some decent singers who have what I'm looking for. However, I have my doubts because I don't trust the caliber of the students that attend this school and I'd be lucky to find one with the qualities I'm looking for there. I'm not singing on the project because my voice (not only singing but in general) is god awful, in my opinion.
