I'm not back in the big city yet but I found some Wi-Fi. Anyway, this trip has been really awesome so far. When you're a city kid and you take a trip to the mountains, you adopt a completely different mindset. I haven't thought about sex in days... lawl. I think about sex at least once a day (which is normal for someone my age, I assume. Admit it. You think about it too.) when I'm in the city but it hasn't been on my mind for a while. But when you don't have access to the internet and the only woman within a five-mile radius is your grouchy 50-year-old stepmom, it's pretty easy to keep sex off your mind haha..

Anyway, musically, I've really been crankin' it. I've got a jazz-fusion song in the works, which is basically a yearning for city life. And my metal operetta is coming along. I'm writing the overture and it'll probably be done when I get back. I'll upload it. All Newgrounds is gonna get is the fugue and the overture until it's finished.

That's it. Gotta go now.

So, like, on Friday, I'm leaving for the Berkshire Mountains in Massachusetts for a week and live in a cabin like an Amish person. There, I will have no access to the internets (i.e. Newgrounds), unless I can find a sliver of Wi-Fi somewhere. Anyway, I'm gonna try and write some new music while I'm up there and have at least one new song to upload when I get back. LATER!

"Maniac's March" is up! This is some crazy ass prog rock. Listen and leave a review when you find the time (which means now)!

I've just been thinking a lot about the definition of music today and I'd like to share some of my thoughts. (THIS IS NOT AN ESSAY I WANTED TO WRITE, THIS IS JUST ME THINKING)

The way I see it, individual pieces of music are a lot like people. Every piece of music has the two traits that humans are judged on: "personality" (the way it's structured) and "outside looks" (the way it sounds to the musically untrained ear).

Unfortunately, because of the latter, along with the superficial world we live in, music is judged based on it's "outer beauty" and not it's "personality." For example, some people consider heavy metal to be "ugly" because its extremely loud and violent sounding "outside" draws people away from it. But if you really listen to what it has to say, musically and lyrically, it has a very deep and well educated "personality" (I'm talking about the good metal). This also goes for atonal classical music.

However, since 99% of the world's population (that's an exaggeration, hopefully) is either too ignorant or too wrapped up in their own lives to realize this, they continue worshipping the "models," music that's beautiful to the ears but is usually musically and lyrically ("personally") shallow (ex. gangsta rap, pop music, crap like that). But the thing is, not everyone has the trained ear to understand the beauty behind esoteric genres like metal, atonal music, jazz, and other stuff that's ahead of it's time and humans have a natural tendency to dismiss, criticize, and be close-minded about anything that they don't understand.

This reminds me of a conversation I had with someone, who obviously didn't know shit about music's "inner beauty." I improvised some heavy metal-style atonal riffs (like Dream Theater) on the keyboard and this girl yelled at me "Play REAL music!!!" (whatever the fuck that is!) She said heavy metal was not "real music" and that because it's nothing but noise and not beautiful, it can't be music at all. (again, what the fuck is "real" music? Isn't ALL music technically "real" music?). Bringing my previous point into play, if "ugly" music is not real music, are ugly people not "real" people? That's cold.

That's all I can think of right now...

They're starting to annoy the shit out of me. This morning, I woke up to check up on my music and I noticed that my song "Fugue of the Apocalypse" went straight from 4.17 (something along those lines) to 3.80, a score that I don't think it deserves at all. And I couldn't help but notice that it was done with not one, but TWO votes and this has been going on for a while. And it wasn't just "Fugue of the Apocalypse," but every song I uploaded this year and then some got attacked.

Apparently these two chuckleheads have some kind of grudge against me and are too yellow to show themselves or they're just random assholes who have nothing better to do with their lives then diminish other people's work by pressing the 0 button. I can't say who they are or why they're doing this but I can certainly say that they're the scum of the earth (or at least Newgrounds).

I'm not as annoyed by the low score (which I really don't give a shit about. I don't have to upload to NG, you know) as I am by the fact that someone out there is going out of his/her way to sabotage my music's standing when there's no good reason to.

Now I am NOT uploading my metal operetta to this site, which is what "Fugue of the Apocalypse" is a preview of, because it's just gonna get zero-bombed by said assholes.

There's a new song on my page. "Fugue of the Apocalypse." This piece took about a day and a half to write. It's basically a 4-part fugue, whose melodies are played by bass, distorted organ, a synth, and a distorted Moog sound. It doesn't necessarily follow fugue conventions but whatever.

This piece will be part of huge project I've decided to take on. It's a metal operetta (or prog epic, whatever I should call it) about 2012, which is supposedly the last year man has left to live and that something significant will happen of December 21 of that year. I got some friends who are capable of opera singing and I'm gonna let them sing the project. There are lots of projects that I've just crapped out on but I've decided to take a total commitment to this one.

I'm off school until September, where I shall resume the routine of my unexceptional, loveless life along with all the other mundane human beings who are for some reason happy with their fapid existence (yes, I made up the word fapid). Until then, I shall bake in the 90 degree heat of New York City as I churn out the sounds of my fried mind on to Newgrounds.

I haven't been myself lately. I am unable to attend the college of choice, Sarah Lawrence College, on account of the lack of money in the family due to this fapid economy and I am winding up at some shitty public college here in the city (whose name gives me a seizure upon each mention), where I shall continue to live with my fapid parents. It's okay, though. I will take a ton of music courses in the fall and get the easiest A's I've ever gotten in all of them then transfer to either Columbia/Juilliard, NYU, the New School's jazz program, or Sarah Lawrence and forget all about this fapid school once and for all.

Now, I'm just trying to figure out what I'll do with my summer. I got rejected from a position in the library at NYU because it turns out that they only take NYU students, and I'm fucking broke so now I'm trying to figure out how to compensate for that. For now, I'm just learning my band's songs and focusing on my own compositions. As you can see, "All That Jazz" is new to the Audio Portal, whose score is currently a solid 4.73 and got one reviewer who gave it a perfect 10. Check it out. If you're on Newgrounds, you have nothing better to do with your fapid time anyway so, why not?

I think fapid should be a real word.
